Obituary of Jon David Nelson

Jon David “Jonny” Nelson, 50, of Simi Valley, California, passed away on September 18, 2014 in Simi Valley, California. Funeral service will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home, 4444 Cochran Street in Simi Valley California 93063 on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Gary Dickey officiating. Jon was born in Panorama City, California to Earl and Gloria Nelson on October 8, 1963. He went to Birmingham High School and graduated in 1981. He went on to earn a certificate in Electronics from Ameritech College. He worked as an Electronic Technician for more than 22 years. He enjoyed fishing at the local ponds, tinkering on his truck, rocking out to music in his garage, and “fixing” anything he could get his hands on, many people affectionately called him “Jonny Fix-it”. Jon is survived by his wife of 21 years, Tami Nelson of Simi Valley, Son Jarrett Nelson of Simi Valley, Son Jesse Nelson of Simi Valley, Daughter Amanda Prescott of Granada Hills, Aunt Joyce Einer of Los Angeles, Brother Russell Nelson of Simi Valley, Niece Erika Nelson of Simi Valley, Niece Heather Mandrell of Simi Valley, Megan Mandrell of Simi Valley, Brother Joe Nelson of West L.A, Sister Christy Nelson of Van Nuys, Niece Courtney Nelson of Bakersfield, and Nephew Cody Nelson of North Hills. He is preceded in death by his Mother Gloria Ann Nelson, Father, Earl Wilhelm Nelson, and Brother, Edward Wilhelm Nelson. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the family and friends who have been of great comfort and support throughout this difficult time and to let you know that your kind words and stories have been a huge comfort to us all. Jon would be overwhelmed with emotion to realize just how many lives he had truly touched in his all too short life and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all of us!
