Obituary of Ann Marie Tapp

Ann Marie Tapp, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on September 26, 2014 at home in Simi Valley, CA with family by her side. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the oldest of two children and grew up with family who were always close by. A graduate of Mt. Assisi Academy, she was active in many of the church groups and clubs. She remained an active alumni throughout her life. In 1957, she met John, her loving husband at a USO dance and the courtship began. In 1962, they married and settled in California where together they raised three children; Kenneth, Gregory and Trisha. They built a life together in Simi Valley where they resided for the past 37 years. Ann Marie worked for Farmer's Insurance for many years and after retirement, traveled with her husband to see the country. They would set out on the open road for destinations, both planned and unknown, always finding a way to meet up with family and old friends. Ann Marie was a patron of the Arts. For many years, she attended a variety of events at the Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center. Her love of theatre was celebrated and passed onto her children and grandchildren. The memories shared together on those evenings will never be forgotten. Nothing was more important to her than family. Being a mother and grandmother was her greatest joy in life and she was known as “mom” to many. Her grandchildren were the loves of her life. Not a birthday, dance recital or baseball game went by that she did not attend. Nothing brought her more happiness than to see the smiles of her grandchildren and to be a part of their achievements as they grew over the years. Her smile was infectious, her love unconditional, her belief and support in her family and friends unshakeable. She will be remembered as a woman who loved to laugh, was kind, thoughtful, selfless and deeply devoted to those closest to her. She is survived by her husband John, sister-in-law Jualene, children Ken, Trisha and Lonnie and three beautiful grandchildren Lauren, Morgan and Michael. She will be missed by all who knew her but is now at peace being able to be with her son, Gregory, who preceded her in death in 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in memory of Ann Marie, to St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, Simi Valley, CA.
