Obituary of Viola Fern Clark

Please share a memory of Viola to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Viola Ward Clark passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 in Thousand Oaks. She was a resident of Moorpark, where she had lived for eleven years. Vi was born in Filer, Idaho, on February 4, 1912 to Martha Gruetzmacher Ward and William Ward. She was raised in Twin Falls, Idaho, graduating from Twin Falls High School in 1930. Vi had two sisters, Wilma and Juanita. She married Ernest Eugene Clark in Boise, Idaho on January 1, 1939. They were married for 63 years when Gene passed away in 2002. They raised four children in Vale, Oregon and South Pasadena, California where they settled in 1956. Vi was known for her beautiful red hair, blue eyes, and infectious smile. She never met a person she didn’t like, and there was no one who didn’t adore her. She loved shopping, reading, history, Shakespeare, music, and did the LA Times crossword puzzle every day. 102 years old and sharp as a tack, Vi loved visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always made each person feel extra special with her undivided attention and enthusiasm for their activities. She is survived by daughters Lynne Hopkins (Bruce) of Moorpark, Leslie Clark Lewis (Harry Frank) of Chicago, Eugene Clark (Joanne Johnson Clark) of Lehi, Utah, and Stefanie Eskander (Bruce) of Midland Park, New Jersey; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 15 nieces and nephews. Vi was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her funeral will be held at the LDS Church at 3645 N. Moorpark Rd., Thousand Oaks, on Saturday, November 22, at noon.
