Chris Peder Stanley Martin passed away at home April 19, 2015 with his family at his side. He was born in Stanley, North Dakota, on March 20, 1927. He was the oldest son of Chris and Lena Johanna Larson Martin. At an early age, he moved to California with his parents and his sister Katherine Susan Martin. He graduated from Hollywood High School in 1944. He served in the United States Navy during Word War II as a radar specialist. Chris Peder married his beloved Betty Jo Brown in 1951. Together they shared 64 years of rich blessings from our Lord Jesus Christ. He graduated from the University of Southern California’s School of Medicine and moved to Woodland Hills in 1957. Dr. Martin practiced family medicine in the west San Fernando Valley for 30 years, and was one of the co-founders of West Hills Hospital in early 1960s. Chris Peder enjoyed life and family to the fullest. He was a jazz trombonist, an avid outdoorsman, and loved to travel and celebrate life with his family and friends. He will be enormously missed by all whose lives he touched. He is now resting with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Chris Peder is survived by his wife Betty, his sons Chris Alan and Robert, and his four precious daughters, Victoria, Cynthia, Deborah, and Jennifer, and his sister Katherine of Brookings, OR. In addition, he leaves behind a large family of 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
