Carmela Ann Caiola (Carmie), 83, of North Hills, CA, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2015 at her home. Carmela was born in Frankfort, New York to Salvatore & Sophie Filingeri on September 6, 1931. She was a stay at home mom for 27 years before going to work for the Veteran’s Hospital in North Hills, CA for 14 years. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, watching the sunset at the beach and spending time with family. Carmela is survived by her husband of 61 years, Peter of North Hills, CA. She is survived by her four children; daughter Josephine and husband, Dolan of Las Vegas, NV; Steve and wife, Michele Caiola of San Diego, CA; Maria Caiola of West Hills, CA and Anthony Caiola of Sherman Oaks; her sister, Julie Simeti of Nanuet, NY and brother Jim and wife, Meg Filingeri of Frankfort, NY; Grandchildren Sean Ahern-Caiola; Patty Sittig- Huskins Stephen Sittig and 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother Phillip and Maxine Filingeri; and brother-in-law Tony Simeti. A visitation will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home, 4444 Cochran Street Simi Valley, CA on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 10:30am at St. John Baptist de la Salle Catholic Church 16555 Chatsworth Street Granada Hills, CA. Burial will be in New York at a later day. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or Providence Trinity Care Hospice or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Providence Holy Cross Hospital; Providence Trinity Care Hospice and Accredited Nursing Care for providing care for Carmela. Friday, September 4, 2015 - funeral mass at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Catholic Church in Frankfort, New York - followed by a graveside service at Mount Olivet ​Cemetery in Frankfort, New York. A private luncheon will be held for family following these services.
