Thousand Oaks Edmund Dean Nenne Edmund Dean Nenne, 84, passed away after a long series of illnesses on November 26, 2011. Ed was the born in Chicago, IL, on April 24, 1927, to the late Augusta and Rudolph Nenne. He had two beloved brothers, T/Sgt. John R. and T/Sgt. William R., both killed in action during World War II. Ed attended Gage Park High before joining the Army Air Force. Upon discharge, he enrolled at Valparaiso Technical School. After graduating, Ed was employed by Sciaky Bros. in Chicago where he designed and serviced electron beam welding equipment. Ed married Helen Neubauer on December 30, 1950, at Hope Lutheran Church where they had been active as teens and young adults. They were blessed with six children - Carol, Joyce, Robert, Diane, Susan, and Kathryn. Ed was an active Boy Scout leader. It was during this time that he received the "Chief Bald Eagle" nickname. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow and held several district positions. Ed and his family liked camping, and, with Ed driving, traveled coast to coast over several years. In 1978, Ed accepted a position at Rockwell International and moved the family to California. He was greatly involved in the production of the Space Shuttle engine. He received several honors from NASA, including the Silver Snoopy award. After his retirement in 1990, Ed and Helen traveled extensively in their motor home. Ed enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren - Lauren, Natalie, Michael, and Thomas Singler, and Kellie, Shannon, and Darcy McPherson - and looked forward to family get-togethers with sons-in-law Michael McPherson and Frank Campana. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2nd, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Rose Family Funeral Home. 4444 Cochran Street, Simi Valley. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3rd, at Ascension Lutheran Church. 1600 East Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. Burial will follow at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks. 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the Salvation Army, Ascension Lutheran Church, or Assisted Home Hospice.
