Obituary of Vivien Louise Kasparian

Please share a memory of Vivien to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vivien Louise Hamblin Kasparian went home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2016 at the age of 93. She is survived by her devoted and loving Daughters, Nadine and Rosemary, her cherished Granddaughters, Carrie, Laurie and Leslie, as well as her precious Great Grandchildren, Christine, Raymond, Jonathan, Emily and Great-Great Grandson Cooper. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her beloved Husband, Oscar, loving Daughter, Grace and her treasured Sister, Grace. Born June 22, 1922 in Los Angeles, California, she grew up in Gardena and attended Gardena High School and then graduated from Beauty School. She then met the love of her life Oscar Kasparian, they were married in 1940. Vivien then moved with her family to San Fernando Valley for 35 years. They were known for hosting big parties and barbecues. She attended the Congregational Church of Chatsworth and was very active in many charitable organizations including the March of Dimes, Spastic Children’s Organization and the F.I.S.H. Foundation. She loved all kinds of music and was also a singer with the Sweet Adeline’s Chorus organization. Family and friends always came first, but Vivien also enjoyed many hobbies. She loved being outdoors, whether at the beach, the pool or camping, but fishing probably topped the list. She was The Fishing Goddess! They later moved to the Santa Cruz area in Scotts Valley, where they spent many years traveling, spending time together and enjoying the Boardwalk and Wharf. Vivien taught swim lessons and attended Jazzercise classes. Wherever she went she made countless friends, as she never knew a stranger. Oscar passed away in 1981 and then several years later she met Ed Kowalski, whom she spent many years with enjoying life. Some of their favorite activities were traveling in their RV, fishing on their boat, and playing music together with their band. In 2005, Vivien moved to Simi Valley, where she lived for three years with her daughter Rosemary. She then spent the last seven years at the Thousand Oaks Health Care Center and was greatly loved by the staff. She always looked forward to the big band “The Unforgettables”, who played at the home each month. Every Christmas, donned in her Rudolph antlers and jingle bells, she would join her grandchildren and their friends in caroling throughout the home. Vivien will always be remembered for her infectious laugh and zest for life. She is a beloved mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and all who were privileged to have known her.
