Obituary of Kay Deal

Please share a memory of Kay to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mildred "Kay" Deal passed away on May 7, 2016 after recently being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Kay recently celebrated her 84th birthday and was living life to the fullest until her untimely passing. Kay was born in Geff, Illinois on March 5, 1932. She grew up on a farm outside town with her two brothers, Lawrence (Sonny) and Albert Auvil, and two sisters, Irene Tucker and Alberta Warren. After moving from Illinois to California, Kay worked as a waitress at the IHOP restaurant for over 25 years, while solely raising her children. It was a tough life, but as always, Kay was up to the task. Kay met Jack Deal, and married on April 25, 1969. Jack retired from General Motors after a lengthy service with them at the Van Nuys plant. Jack passed away on March 18, 2013. Kay and Jack relocated to Simi Valley in the early 70's and raised their family here. Kay obtained her real estate license, and began working at Dynamic Realty with Elton and Janice Gallegly. She helped Elton with his first Congressional campaign, and every campaign after. She was also one of the first docents at the Ronald Reagan Library. She remained active in politics for several decades, often riding in the Simi Valley Days parade with the Republican Women's Club. She also worked on Ronald Reagan's first campaign for governor, and eventually his presidential campaign. Kay also worked at Troop Real Estate and RR Gable, making many friends in the business. She continued working until her late 70's, eventually finally closing her last sale. After that, her car could be seen around town with the license plate "ADEAL4U". Kay was an active member of the Kiwanis Club for 20 years, quickly rising to the presidency; she was named a distinguished president after her term ended. She also received a Dunlap medal from the District for her exceptional service to the club. Kay never did anything half-way, and always gave her all too any endeavor she was involved with. Kay was preceded in death by her husband Jack and sister Alberta Warren, and her grandsons, Robert Villa, and Shaun DuBois, she loved them all, and is blessed to be back with them. Kay’s greatest joy was her family, and she was blessed to have a large and loving family. She had six children, Trony Villa, Bonnie Padilla (Manny), Stan Galperson, Blaine Bowman (Denise), Connie DuBois (Brian), and Michelle Carter. She had 23 grandchildren; Eric and Ian Chandler, Paula Villa, Trony Kay Raskin, Robert Villa,Twila Rowe, Jackie Padilla, Windy Gregory, Roxanne and Belinda Padilla, Blaine V, Daniel , Jonathan and Christopher Bowman, Hilary and Jessica Galperson, Joshua, Shaun, Brittany, Paige and Beau DuBois, and Britney and Nicholas Harrison. A memorial service and celebration of Kay's life will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church on May 21st at 10am, located at 4191 Cochran Street, Simi Valley. All are welcomed to honor and celebrate the life of this wonderful person. Donations in Kay's memory may be made out to the Kiwanis Foundation, helping the youth and less fortunate in the community.
