Obituary of Arlington Rand Brooks III

Please share a memory of Arlington to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Arlington Rand Brooks III, 66, passed away doing what he loved in Acton, Ca. Born in Santa Monica, Ca. He is the son of Arlington Rand Brooks Jr. and Lois Laurel. He graduated from Taft High School in 1968. Randy was a jack of all trades, as he was an ambulance attendant for his father’s business, then ran a bar for many years, but most people know him for owning and operating his trucking company that he ran for the last 40 years. In his younger days he loved skipping school to go surfing, to work on his “Black Pearl” Lincoln Continental, and to build and ride his motorcycles. He will be remembered for many things …. Some of those being his long hair, wooly red beard, his contagious laugh, and endearing smile. He looked tough on the outside, but he had a soft heart and loved people relentlessly. The amount of people that love him is countless because the love he had for those in his life was endless. His quick wit and his charming wink always brought smiles to those around him. Randy is known by all as a collector – both of things – as well as people. He loved his horses, cars, antiques, and motorcycles. Above all he loved his family. His greatest love and proudest accomplishments were his three children: Melinda, Cherry and Garrett and his four grandchildren Sydney, Jake, Brady, and Reagan. Randy lived for his children and bragged endlessly. He was most excited to meet his new granddaughter Reagan and to attend his son’s wedding in July. Randy is survived by his mother Lois Laurel Hawes, children Melinda Grcevic, Cherry Fratus, and Garrett Brooks. Grandchildren Sydney, Jake, Brady, and Reagan. Ride off in to the sunset, Randy, we’ll see you on the flip side…
