Vernon Delbert “Dirty Dog” Parish, 76, of Simi Valley, California, passed away on November 19, 2016 at his sons home in Newbury Park. Funeral service will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home on Friday November 25, 2016 at 10am with Reverend Jonathan Mulford officiating, there will be a short visitation before the funeral services starting at 9am. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park, Chatsworth. Rose Family Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements. Vern was born in Sweetwater, Texas to Robert and Anna Mae Parish on February 8, 1940. He finished High School and enrolled in the United States Marine Corp where he served for 6 years as a solider of war and data processor. He finished his Associates Degree and began working as an Aerospace Programmer for Rocketdyne for 36 years. While at Rocketdyne he took some time to begin building houses in Northern California with his older brother. This flourished into a love for contracting which he would eventually turn into a business endeavor after retirement with his son Robin James and son in law Dean Kenneth. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hiking, gardening, being outdoors, being with family especially his grandkids, loved his “puppies” like children and loved to laugh. He was known to have a giant appetite for such a slender build especially when it came to his steaks. He was a church going, caring, loving, sweet, gentle hearted and generous man. He was a hard worker that received many awards for his performance at work and would help any charity or person when he could. Vern is survived by his son, Robin James of Newbury Park, California, his daughter Carla Jean of Colorado Springs, Colorado, his Daughter Deanna Cinda of Simi Valley, California, son, Trevor Wes of Ocala, Florida, his sister Gene of Abilene, Texas, his brother Leland of Abilene, Texas and his sister Doris of Del Rey Beach, Florida. He is also survived by his grand children Savannah Brynn, Parish Dylan and Avaleen Carla Rose. He is preceded in death by his brother Doc, his brother Ray, his brother Robert, his sister Judy. Vern was a great man and will be forever missed by his family and friends. We love you Pop!
