CLIFFORD EDWARD PAUGH Clifford Edward Paugh, a resident of Simi Valley, California, died in his home on April 10, 2012 after a short, intense battle with stage four pancreatic cancer. He was 77. He is survived by one married brother, Robert Paugh (Kaye) and two married sisters, Susan Paugh Menhorn (George) and Priscilla Paugh Anderson (Richard). His older sister, Gwen Paugh Weisner (John) preceded him in death four years ago. Ed was born in Boise, Idaho on April 27th, 1934 to Clifford Louis Paugh and Luella Carson Paugh and lived in Boise until moving to Baker City, Oregon in 1936 where he lived until leaving to go to college. He attended Tiedemann Elementary School Baker Junior High School, and Baker High School. He attended Oregon State University for one year. He then transferred to Brigham Young University where he completed his BS Degree in Electrical Engineering. While at the University he accepted a call to serve a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States Mission. Upon graduation, he accepted a job as Inspection Engineer for the City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. For 34 years he held various engineering and management positions until he retired as the Senior Power Engineer in the Department. During that time he earned a Masters degree from BYU and an MBA from UCLA. In the mid 1960s he married Eiko Ohgi, whom he met in Japan. He was assigned to conduct inspection and acceptance testing of high power transmission equipment in Japan prior its shipment to Los Angeles for use in the L.A. electrical power grid. Eiko preceded Ed in death in 1996. They have two adopted children, Michael K. Paugh and Mitzi Paugh Moss. Ed loved to travel and frequently took visitors from Japan and elsewhere to the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, San Francisco, and Sequoia National Park. He enjoyed visits to Eastern Oregon and had fond memories of the people and places he had grown to love while growing up there. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many positions of responsibility throughout his life, including serving as an Ordinance Worker in the Los Angeles Temple. Funeral services will be at The Santa Susana Third Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 3979 Township, Simi Valley, CA. at 11:00am, Saturday. April 14th. There will be a viewing at the Church in the Relief Society room from 9:30 to 10:30am. Ed will be interred in the Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, CA next to Eiko. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ed's name to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund or the LDS Humanitarian Aid Fund at 15 E. South Temple, 2nd Floor East, Salt Lake City, UT 84150.
