Jo Ellen Stratton, 82, of Granada Hills, CA, passed away on 3-31-2017 in her home in Granada Hills, CA. Funeral service will be held at Oakwood Memorial Park on Friday April 7th, 2017 at 2:30 pm with Brad Ford officiating and Yabo Obien performing the music. Burial will follow at the Gravesite, Oakwood Memorial Park, 22601 Lassen St., Chatsworth, CA. 91311. Jo Ellen Vernon was born in Bartlett, TX. to Edgar Samuel Vernon and Ara Cowart Vernon on 2-27-1935. She went to high school at Byrd High and graduated in 1952. She worked as a Secretary for Gulf Oil in Shreveport, LA. then transferred to downtown Los Angeles. for a total of 4 years for Gulf Oil. She then retired and served her family as a full time wife, mother and homemaker. Jo Ellen’s Favorite hobby was watching the Dallas Cowboys with her husband and son. She also enjoyed listening to her Best-Loved singer Elvis Presley. For many years Jo Ellen celebrated her Birthday in style at English High Tea along with her Granddaughter and her daughter-in-law. Jo Ellen’s #1 destination was Disneyland. She was the very Best “Ma”, to her granddaughter who was he apple of her eye and the best medicine she ever had. Jo Ellen lived for every sweet note that her granddaughter sang, or volleyball she hit. She was truly Lindsay’s #1 Fan! Jo Ellen lovingly donated her time counting offering at the Church at Rocky Peak for many years.. Jo Ellen is survived by her Husband, Roy Stratton, Son, Bill Stratton, Granddaughter, Lindsay Stratton, and Daughter-in-Law, Michele Benedict, She is preceded in death by her Daughter, Vicki Ellen Stratton, and Parents: Edgar Samuel Vernon and Ara Cowart Vernon. The family wishes to extend their Sincere gratitude to Providence Trinity Care Hospice.
