Obituary of Rodolfo Liwanag

Please share a memory of Rodolfo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rodolfo “Rudy” Liwanag passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the age of 82 in Granada Hills, CA surrounded by love ones. He was born on February 2, 1935 in the city of Zamboanga, the Philippines, to Manuel and Lucille Liwanag.

On March 14, 1963 he married the love of his life, Wilhelmina “Wilma” (Llana) Liwanag. They had three sons: Ricky, Eduard, and Leslie. The family permanently moved to the United States in 1984.  Except for a short time in New York City, Rudy has been a long-time resident of Southern California.  Sadly, Wilma passed away in May 2017.

After his early retirement from Robinsons-May, Rudy and Wilma founded a small business, which he co-owned and worked for over 20 years. He enjoyed traveling to new places and making lasting memories with his family. He was always ready with his quick wit, and was often the first to laugh at his own jokes. Rudy was a key component that held the family together, and he enjoyed and delighted in his two grandsons, Kai and Connor.

Rudy is survived by his sons Ricky (David), Eduard, and Leslie (Heather); and his 3 brothers, Sonny, Bert and Roy. He will be fondly remembered and missed by numerous loving relatives and friends. The family would like to thank all those who cared and prayed for him during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the charity of your choice in his memory.

Services are scheduled as follows:

Celebration Mass will be held at St Mary’s Church at the grounds of Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, CA on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10:00am. Placement for Rudy’s and Wilma's ashes will immediately follow the mass at Oakwood Memorial Park.  Please join us in celebrating Rudy’s life.
