Obituary of Michael King

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael "Mike" Wayne King went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2013 after a valiant eight-year long battle with colon cancer. Mike was born in Munich, West Germany on July 14, 1955 to Billy and Irma King. His father was in the American Army stationed in Germany and was transferred to California when Mike was six months old. Mike is survived by his beloved wife Gail, their beautiful daughter Christina, his mother Irma, sister Donna, father and mother-in-law Brian and Jean Davison, brother-in-law Grant Davison, Aunt and Uncle Jean and Richard Oishei, Aunt Annemarie, cousins Debbie, Victor, Richard, and Werner, extended family and many, many friends who were like family to him. Mike was a very humble yet talented man. He was a self-taught musician, teaching himself to play the drums at the age of 18. He was the original worship team drummer at Church of the Living Christ and also played on the worship team at Newheart Foursquare Church and in the Live Ride Band at The Live Ride Christian Church. Mike also played in several local bands including Permanent Damage (named for loss of hearing due to loud music and motorcycles), The Original Gumball Factory and most recently, Three Rivers Band. Mike also had a passion for motorcycles and was a senior patch holder in the Live Ride Motorcycle Ministry. He also had a passion for photography and enjoyed taking photos of Yosemite, his favorite place to visit. He was a dedicated worker who continued to work for many years after his diagnosis. He loved his dog, Caesar, and Cowboys Football. His favorite player was Jason Witten. Mike was warm, caring and a true friend to all who knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He touched the hearts of many people and left a permanent impression on everyone he met. His strength and perseverance is beyond compare. He is deeply loved and will be sadly missed. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 1 at the Rose Family Chapel, 4444 Cochran Street, Simi Valley from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Services will be held on Saturday, February 2 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Living Christ, 171 Royal Ave, Simi Valley.
