John was a permanent fixture in my life he was amazing he took the time to play at a 13 year olds birthday.. and our relationship transitioned into friends as I got to be an adult he was always willing to talk and made time to see you when he came to your town I will miss him

John and I became friends during the last few months of his life. We were not acquainted at TOHS, but we both went through Army basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He was really looking forward to getting back to the stage and he wanted to help with another Wally Fest or Band Tree. I was devastated at the news of his passing especially due to the progress he had made with his treatments. The world has lost a tremendous talent and genuinely kind person. Rest in peace, my brother.

so many memories...summer about '66...I was thirteen, he was fifteen, coming out of Thrifty's over at the Janns mall...John was wearing a black shirt with big white polka dots, very Dylanesque...some jerk made derogatory comment...Huck showed him a bony finger and told him to &#@& off! it...I just thought he was the coolest...and that passionate, independent, freewheeling attitude never changed to his last day...frankly, the world was just a stage to him and it was on stage he was most at home. Colossal talent.

There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of him. His big presence will be missed in this world. He was woven into my life since the 60s when we lived in the Shadow Oaks tract and went to high school together. Then many years later he befriended my husband and we all had many fun times together, attending his shows, having him over for dinner and hearing all of his lifes experiences! I really hoped he would see his Rockin’ Nam movie come to fruition, starring Justin Timberlake, as he so desired!
My deepest sympathy to all of his family and friends.

My family lived next door to the Flynn’s in TO. John was a usher in my wedding July 1967. It’s in the Conejo newspaper and he signed, along with his parents, my guest book. He totally forgot and was amazed with I sent him the copies. I am glad we reconnected on Facebook, he was a lovely person and great musician/comedian. God bless him and his family always.

I thought I knew most everything about John’s awesome story. Thank you for filling in the empty spaces. He was truly a wonderful person, far beyond the music, books and comedy he was a total class guy. I will miss him very much. Until we see each other again. Peace to you Huck.

Huck was not only talented. But fun to hang out with as we did watching football. An all around great humble guy! Despite being an Anaheim Ducks fan. Lol. I wish we could have hung at least one more time. You will be missed brother Huck!
