Jeanne Richardson, a Daughter of Los Angeles,  1/14/1925 - 7/28/2019

Jeanne L. Richardson (nicknamed “Wendy” by her husband) passed away July 28, 2019 at the Tidewell Hospice Home in Englewood, Florida. She was 94. Jeanne was born in Santa Monica in 1925 and was raised in La Canada/Flintridge.  She attended Eliot Junior High School in Altadena and graduated from San Fernando High School.  She attended Los Angeles City College and then worked as a dental assistant in Hollywood.  Jeanne met her husband, Ralph W. Richardson, on a blind date at a UCLA-CAL football game while they were both enrolled at UCLA.  After graduation she taught elementary school.  She married Ralph, a Marine Corps veteran, in 1951.  (They celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary on June 22nd.)  Ralph joined the US Foreign Service and together Ralph and Wendy navigated international postings in Europe, Africa, and Latin America, while raising four children. After retirement, they spent time trailering around America, visiting historic districts throughout the country.  Ralph and Wendy also enjoyed renovating historic homes in Newcastle, Delaware, Wilmington, North Carolina and Lewes, Delaware.  And they spent many pleasant winters in Venice, Florida.

As a girl Jeanne enjoyed riding horseback in the mountains near her home, and always loved her dogs.  As a teenager she would ride the Red Cars of the Pacific Electric Railway to work at the movie theater at the Biltmore Hotel on Pershing Square.  Throughout life she enjoyed dog shows, and watching ice skating and tennis.  And she loved ice cream.

She is preceded in death by her brother Robert Lipking.  She is survived by her brother Gary Lipking, husband Ralph, sons Bruce, Stephen, and Mark, and daughter Karen Moylan.  She is also survived by a son-in-law, Paul, a daughter-in-law, Cathy, and two grandchildren, Emma and Sam.

A vigil was held Tuesday at the Roberson Funeral Home in Port Charlotte, Florida with friends and family.  Interment will be at Oakwood Memorial Park and Cemetery in Chatsworth, California at 10am Saturday, August 3rd, 2019.  Welcome home, Wendy.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
