I’m sorry that I don’t respond quickly!! We all grieve differently. I always looked up to you as my Dad and the Papa of Zoey!! You amazed me at the way you were with Zoey!! You would take her on walks when she was just learning to walk, with the ducks. She still tells me stories of your walks. Zoey would tell you she likes goldfish crackers, so you would sneak away and come back with Costco with that gigantic box of goldfish crackers. I miss you daily and mornings are the hardest. I do wake up missing you. You had a great positive effect In my life!! I love you for always take care of my Mom!! Love you for always take care of Zoey and me too!! Miss ya Palmbo!!

This was included in the recent Auxiliary Coast Guard publication. Gary loved his years of service with this organization.

Gary was the most positive person I have ever known. He cared deeply for his family and friends, and he had many.
While in Reno we would take my Jeep into the mountains in N Nevada and N California. Explore the trails, look for and enjoy the wild horses, and find a 3-sided canyon for some target shooting. We would wind up at Virginia City, at Pyramid Lake, or at Walker Lake.
The next day might find us on one of the many beautiful lakes in the area, in a speedboat or in Gary's fishing boat. His wife Cathy would frequently join us in the Jeep or a boat. It was a wonderful era and left beautiful memories.
I will miss Gary.

Gary and I did a lot of backpacking together and our trips were frequently memorable as Gary's snoring frightened off other campers as they thought Gary sounded like a bear. This explains why we never shared a tent and why a couple in Little Yosemite Valley were up at 2:00 AM banging on pots to scare off a bear until I explained the source of the noise.
Happy trails, Gary.
Love,
Tom and Marilee

Gary and I were golfing buddies in the senior men's club at Simi Hills golf course. We had a lot of fun and I miss Gary very much. He lived a full life including motor cycle racing (he had a metal rod in his leg to prove it). We can't ask for anything more than that.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Gary's passing. Gary and Cathy, we're thoughtful, kind, and caring neighbors for 14 years. Every holiday Christmas Cathy would bake goodies and Gary would deliver them. Gary always talked about Cathy and adored her endlessly. I will miss him and he will always be remembered as a humble and kind man with his big bright happy smile. My condolences to his wife and family at this difficult time.

Gary was quite the guy. He loved life and lived it to its fullest. If there is a coastguard in heaven, that’s where you’ll find him smiling.
