Obituary of Cheryl Lynn McLean
On April 23, 2021, Cheryl Lynn McLean, of Simi Valley, enter the light to join her lord, family, and friends after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s and a brief battle with Pneumonia. Cheryl was born to Clinton and Wanda (Laxson) Davis on October 19, 1946 in Santa Monica, California.
Cheryl graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1964. Upon Graduation she joined General Telephone Company. There she met the love of her life Thomas McLean. They married in 1965 and began raising a family. Erin Michele was born in 1966, with Kellie Lynn arriving two years later. Later in life, Cheryl and Thom enjoyed raising their granddaughter Ashlynne Elizabeth McLean. Cheryl was an incredible wife and mother, who actively supported and cheered on her children through school and their activities. She was also proud to support her granddaughter at Santa Susana High School and the Performing Arts Team.
Cheryl loved fishing, from Lake Cachuma and Huntington Lake to Oklahoma farmer ponds and streams. She most often out fished everyone and always baited her own hook. Cheryl also enjoyed cruising and her travels to Australia and New Zealand, and to many countries in Europe. Cruising to Hawaii and visiting the islands was one of her favorite trips.
Cheryl, while raised a Methodist, became an active member of The First Church of Christ Scientist. She religiously read the monthly Christian Science Journals, Sentinels, and digests. She always performed the research and completed each month’s bible lessons. Cheryl was a caring and faithful person who cherished her love of God and the belief and trust in our Lord.
Cheryl was proceeded in passing by her parents Clinton (1997) and Wanda (2014) Davis and her brother Roger Davis (2000). Also, her In-laws Orville (1963) and Clarice (2003) McLean.
Cheryl’s memory will be held dear by her husband of 55+ years Thom; Daughter Erin Michele Klope (husband Robert) and granddaughters Rylee and Addison; Daughter Kellie Lynn Kurdelak (husband David) and granddaughter Alexa and grandson Kyle; and granddaughter Ashlynne Elizabeth Egan (husband Chris). Additionally, her brother Clinton “Sonny” Davis (wife Lynn), her brother-in law Garry Lee McLean in Arizona, sister-in law Patti Jo Schoner (Forest) in Oregon, and her many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and pulmonary technicians at Simi Valley Adventist Health Hospital for their outstanding care for Cheryl. Additional thanks to Adventist Health Social Services and Hospice Services for their support and compassion for the family.
At Cheryl’s request there will be no memorial service. She asks that everyone remember all the good times and leaves her love to all.
