Obituary of Charles Michael Boranian
It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved Charles Michael Boranian, affectionately known to us as Charlie, passed away on January 31, 2022 in the San Fernando Valley, California at age 66.
He was the first born child to Sam and Jennie Boranian and is survived by both of his parents and his Wife, Kathleen Boranian; Daughters, Jessica Boranian and Katie Boranian; Siblings, Mark Boranian (Sue Boranian), Karen Peterson (Kelly Peterson), JoAnn Bendik (Richard Bendik), Susan Movsesian (Vazken Movsesian), and Nancy Davidson (Martin Davidson.)
Born on July 23, 1955 in Racine, Wisconsin, he moved shortly after with his parents to Santa Monica, California. The family bought their first home, “The Neddy House,” in the San Fernando Valley in 1960 where he grew up with his brother and sisters. He went to Haynes Street School, Hale Middle School and graduated from El Camino Real High School in 1973. After high school he married his young love, Kathy, in 1981 after meeting one another as teenagers in the very neighborhood where he grew up. Together, they nurtured their bond over the course of 8 years before they got married and went on to have two daughters; Jessica in 1982 and Katie in 1986. His family was always of greatest importance to him and he made it certain that there was shared time with his wife and girls, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews.
He had a special love of cars, auto body work and paint, growing plants and gardening, antiques and handmade/handcrafted items. These loves and passions led him to many years of repairing and painting cars; finding, buying and selling antiques and treasures in his own antique shop and at flea markets and swap meets; and woodworking, building garden boxes and outdoor garden decor. He loved to create things, repurpose items, and was extremely resourceful.
He had many special loves, but perhaps the most special love of all, was talking with people. He loved to tell stories, share thoughts and information, and connect with people. His stories and conversations were always accompanied with his enthusiasm, humor and big, spirited laugh.
We are truly all better for knowing Charlie and have been so blessed to have him in our lives for all of these years. He was one of the good ones and will never be forgotten. Our family would like to give our deepest thanks to everyone that has been a part of Charles' life and shown him love.
A funeral service for the immediate family is scheduled for Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 2pm. Due to limited space at the funeral home, please join our family for the service from your location by using the live stream link: https://youtu.be/AR42pLIBHlM
After the service, we will be meeting at Mark and Sue Boranian’s house in Woodland Hills at 4pm and would love to have everyone join us for a beautiful outdoor gathering and Celebration of Life. All are welcome to attend. Please contact our family directly for the address.
Charles always loved growing edible and decorative plants and sharing plants with his friends and family.. If you feel compelled to contribute, please send or bring live plants to Rose Family Funeral Home. In addition to live plants, and in honor of Charles and his Armenian culture and heritage, donations can be made to In His Shoes, (www.inhisshoes.org) an organization created in response to acts of Genocide perpetrated against the Armenian nation in 1915, whose humanitarian outreach programs rally support for those who suffer in the world.
Our family again gives our deepest gratitude for all of those who have shown Charles love over his lifetime and who choose to also lead their lives with kindness, compassion and love.
