Richard Boltom posted a condolence

I just want to send my condolences to the entire family. I was honored to have met John in grammar school at Saint Martin of Tours in the first grade. Some of my earliest memories about John we're very enriching. I remember going to the family home in Brentwood And John had a garden up on the Hill that he loved to tend to. I would watch as he clipped his tomato plants and made sure that they were on Poles and growing the way they should plus all the other vegetables he had up there.
His love of gardening fishing and the outdoors was remarkable and he utilized his love to the fullest. I remember going on a deep sea boat fishing and that was one of the best times of my life. He was so at peace doing the things that he loved.
As an only child I was amazed at the Pinza home and how many children were there and the activity was never ceasing it left an indelible inprint on my mind about the love that they all had for each other.
Another one of my fond memories was going to the scout camp that he used to work at Elena John and I were there and spent the weekend traveling in those jeeps that they had and Cooking steak great meals and just having a good time.
His love of life and his smile were radiant and I will totally miss him.

John and I fished together for 50 years everywhere. Fresh and salt water. Roland Pinza and my dad got John more interested in fishing as time went on. This picture at Paradise Cove was one of our favorite spots to go at 16 years old before they closed it. It still hangs in my house every day.

John and I took the island packer boat out to Santa Cruz Island and we had a few hours on the island and we decided to climb this trail and it took us a long long time but we made it to the top. What a great day that was!
