Obituary of Mary Ann Cralley

Mary Ann Cralley, age 91, of Simi Valley, CA, passed away on December, 26, 2023 in Chatsworth, CA.

Funeral service will be held at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church on Tuesday, January. 16 at 10:00 a.m.  with Reverend Rev. Fr. Michael Sezzi of St. Peter Claver officiating. Burial will follow at San Fernando Mission 11160 Stranwood Avenue, Mission Hills, CA 91345. Rose Family Mortuary will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Mary Ann was born in Barberton, Ohio to John and Mary Zema on January 26, 1932. She went to Barberton High School and graduated in 1949.  Mary Ann moved to Southern California with a friend and worked at Oscar Meyer Packing Company for 5 years.  She married Walter Cralley in 1955.  She loved to sing and especially enjoyed polka and square dancing. She sang in the church choir and entertained at the Simi Valley Senior Center in musical productions during her retirement years.  

Mary Ann is survived by her four daughters Barbara Leighty and husband Dan Leighty of Star, Idaho and her grandsons Brandon Leighty, wife Mackenzie Leighty and great granddaughter Violet Leighty who live in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and Jason Leighty of Addison, Texas, Catherine Aebischer and husband Hans Aebischer and Rueben Garcia of Glendale, CA, Jean Schaaff and husband Mike Schaaff of Simi Valley, CA, Mary Cralley and husband Eric Nelissen of Star, Idaho. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Zema and her sister Rita Jean Benya.

Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or The Alzheimer's Association.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Fran, Emily, Arnel, and Robert at Heavenly Haven for the wonderful care they provided Mary Ann over the last 4 ½ years.
