Obituary of Judy Mae Rosenfeld

Judy Mae Rosenfeld, age 81, of North Hills, CA, passed away on February 19, 2024 in Simi Valley, CA.

A memorial service will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home on Monday March 11, 2024 at 10AM with reception following. Please come in colorful clothing to celebrate life.

Judy was born in Los Angeles to Leone and James Sonnabend on November 6, 1942. She went to Van Nuys High School. She married and had two daughters. She was active in her kids’ lives, volunteering at temple, leading girl scouts, and teaching art and art history at school. For work outside the home, she dabbled in many areas but mostly doing property management and accounting. As part of her creative outlet, she owned a frame shop with her brother for several years. She even worked as a pre-school teacher for a bit.

She was creative with all kinds of crafts, experimenting with many different mediums like stained glass, ceramic bowls, painting, needlepoint, but she especially loved quilting. She loved music and all kinds of dance including square dancing, line dancing, and israeli folk dancing.  She was known at her care center as the “Foothill Dancer” and made everyone smile. She also loved to travel near and far. She spent her childhood summers on Catalina Island and enjoyed creating new memories there with her family over the years. She also loved spending time at her family cabin in Big Bear. Both hold a special place in her heart, and ours.  And even though she was not an athlete, she was determined to complete a marathon at the age of 60!

She was a friend to all and loved by many.

Judy is survived by her two daughters Julie and Jill, son-in-law Steve, three grand-children, Tyler, Jena and Jake, her brother Justis and sister-in-law Andrea, and niece Ashley, who will all miss her sparkling personality dearly.
