Obituary of Nora Lee Elizabeth Seymour

Nora Lee Elizabeth Seymour, Nonie, of Simi Valley, California passed away on June 30th, 2024 at the age of 87.

Her Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 10th at 11:00am with the service starting at noon at the Rose Family Funeral Home on 4444 Cochran Street, Simi Valley, Ca, 93063. 805-581-3800.

There will also be a party afterwards at 2:00pm at her daughter’s home nearby. Location and information will be provided at the service. It was Nonie’s personal wish that her friends and family would gather together to enjoy some of her favorite foods and drinks and to share stories, laugh and to celebrate so many wonderful memories from her 87 years on earth. Please R.S.V.P. to Jessica at 805-279-4137 so we can plan on enough food for everyone. Nonie’s favorite colors were blue, yellow and white and she would love to see everyone in those colors or something bright and happy instead of the traditional black attire.

Nonie was born in the city of Ferndale, township of Royal Oak on November 26, 1936 to Laurence Edwin Crawford and Noreen Elizabeth Lynch. She grew up in Lake Orion, Michigan and graduated from Lake Orion High School in 1955.

She was soon married in the summer of 1955 to Donald Cole and had two children Dan and Dawn. She divorced and moved her kids across the country to be with her parents in California in 1963. After getting a job as a secretary at Flying Tigers she met and fell in love with Art Seymour. They married in Las Vegas in 1965. Art adopted Dan and Dawn and had their third child Lee in 1966. Art passed away in 1971 and Nonie raised her three children in their Northridge, California home over the next 20 years. She found love one more time and married Edward Lilinthall in 1976. Ed passed a few years later and Nonie never remarried. She spent the rest of her life enjoying time spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and so many other family members that she held dear to her heart.

She is survived by Dan, Dawn and Lee and also by her grandchildren Danny, Andrea, Meagan, Kelsi, Sarah, Kelli, Kati, Haley and Rylee and her great grandchildren Tristen, Austin, Peyton, Ellison, Stetson, Bristol, Orion Ray and Caeson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Tom Crawford, sister Vera McGee, her daughter in law Francine and many family other members and friends that she is now with in Heaven including her Archie, her dog and companion for 18 years.

Nonie worked as an ER Nurse, a secretary, a banker, President of the Northridge Guild Children’s Hospital and even worked for her son Lee selling train ride tickets. But if you asked Nonie her favorite job was being with, traveling with and celebrating every holiday of the year with her family. Nonie suffered a number of medical setbacks over recent years and did her best to fight back to be with her family, she also knew that soon her time here with her family would end. In her journal on October 29th, 2020 she wrote “Live with the Love hopefully I left behind”. We will Nonie.

Nonie survived breast cancer in 2008. Her daughter Dawn and daughter in Law Francine, who also had cancer formed the Mother / Daughter Survivor Team and spent years raising money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. Dawn has included a link where memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers.
