Thomas James Peters Jr. (Tom)

Tom Peters of Valencia, CA passed away peacefully at the Pacifica Senior Living in Newhall, CA on August 27. Tom was born the son of Ethel and Tom Peters on March 29,1944 in the South Shore Community Hospital in Chicago. He grew up in Riverdale, a suburb of Chicago until he left to attend Northrop Institute of Technology (now Northrop University). After a couple years at Northrop, he joined the USAF and served a four-year tour of duty before returning to Northrop to complete a degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering living in Redondo Beach. At that time, the aircraft industry was going through a rough patch, so on graduation he took a job testing hydraulic systems eventually working on the design of state-of-the-art carrier-based aircraft. He eventually relocated to Valencia, CA. Tom was a lover of dogs, cars, and movies. He was a natural mechanic and purchased a Model A Ford to fix up before he even could get a driver’s license. He owned and raced several stock cars he maintained himself at the local Saugus Speedway. He loved the companionship of dogs and always kept several dogs that he adopted from the local animal shelter. Tom is survived by older brother John (Lois) Peters, Nephew, John (Lisa Hunt) Peters Jr., and Niece, Laura (Eric Haukdal) Peters.
