Obituary of Alfred John Schuermann
Mr. Alfred “Al” Schuermann died peacefully at home on October 7, 2024 in Newbury Park, CA at the age of 87.
Al is survived by his sons A.J. and Chris, his daughters Kathy and Maggie, his son in law Danny, grandson Cody, and nieces Marlene, Kitty, Reenie, Janice, and nephews Kenneth and Robert. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Eleanor and daughter Ellie, his sister Mary, brothers Richard and Tony, nephew Michael and niece Denise.
Al was born on September 5, 1937 in New York City, NY to Reinhard and Maria Schuermann. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1955. He married Eleanor Fogarty in 1964.
After serving in the Air Force, he worked at Western Union, RCA, and Marsh and McLennan in New York. After moving his family to California, Al also worked for Transamerica and Sears. In 1991, he became a member of the Screen Actors Guild and appeared in commercials, television shows and movies.
He is remembered fondly by his family as a devoted husband to his beloved wife and hero to his children. Everyone everywhere looked up to him and smiled when he showed up. He was one of a kind, and will be missed dearly for leaving behind a full life lived with honor, acceptance, performance, and love.
A funeral is scheduled for Thursday, October 17, 2024 at St. Rose of Lima Church at 10am with burial immediately afterwards at Assumption Cemetery in Simi Valley.
