Obituary of Henry Dale Lienhard
Henry Dale Lienhard, known to all as Dale, was born August 20, 1938 in Van Nuys, California to Henry Clifford and Armeda Lienhard and passed on December 20, 2024 at the age of 86.
Dale grew up on Rayen Street in Sepulveda, California, modern day North Hills. His neighbors on Rayen Street were his paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. When he was eight years old, his sister Judy Ann was born and through their adult years the two shared a close bond.
While attending Van Nuys High School, Dale was in R.O.T.C. each year; paving the way for his enlistment in the Air Force Reserves in 1956; a few months before graduating from high school with four years of perfect attendance. He didn’t consider himself a veteran because he was never deployed. He was honorably discharged on October 14. 1962 after 5 years 11 months and 11 days.
In 1963, Dale began his career as an engineer with General Telephone Company, following the footsteps of the men on the paternal side of his family by securing a job in the public sector and retired after 32 years. Dale enjoyed, Little Debbie Zebra cakes, Diet Pepsi, Rainier beer, researching his family tree, drafting, science fiction and aliens, astronomy; King Tut and the pyramids of Egypt. He was always good at fixing things around the house and in more recent years he began woodworking,, making furniture pieces.
When asked the most important thing to him, Dale responded, “my family.” Not only was he a kind and gentle man he was a gentleman. He will be loved and missed always and never be forgotten. He will live on in the memories and stories told by those that love him most, his family.
Preceded by his parents Henry and Armeda Lienhard, and his sister Judy Ann Westman (Lienhard). Dale is survived by his wife Marion, who put a smile on his face and in his heart. His children and step-children: Mark (Irene) Lienhard, Lisa Holleman, Karen Landeen and partner Tony DiStefano, Elise (Chris) Rollins, and Michael (Kathy) Abelson. He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grand- children, nieces and nephews and cousin, Yvonne Young.
