George Webster Redmon was born May, 1, 1931 in Los Angeles, California to Chalmers and Opal (Raney) Redmon. He passed away on June 21, 2015 surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
George grew up in the Los Angeles area, and graduated from George Washington High School in 1949. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served as part of Strategic Air Command crewing B-36 and B-47 aircraft until his discharge in August 1955. He married Elvira Mendez of Glendale, AZ in August 1955 and they remained together until her death December 31, 2011.
George worked for the State of California for 32 years starting at San Fernando Valley State College and continued as it grew to become California State University Northridge until his retirement. He was active in the Model A Club, The Orchid Society and his church. He was always an avid animal lover and leaves behind his faithful shetland sheepdog and companion, Buddy.
He is survived by his son Daniel (wife Janet), his daughter Marie, his son, Jerry (partner Jenny Grootendorst), grandchildren Steven and Gregory Redmon, sister Alice Moenning (husband Herman) of Lincoln, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews.
