Facebook Post by Jennifer Stewart McGeorge July 3, 2015 My Grandmother died peacefully last night in a Northern California hospital. I don't think I will ever forget that it happened while I was on vacation, without cell service, without Internet, and without success trying to reach my family on a pay phone. I am deeply saddened that I didn't get a chance to say goodbye or to tell her I loved her one last time. I am glad she is no longer in pain and has gone to live with the Lord. I will always remember her spunk, wit, and sharp intelligence. I will always miss her laugh. I LOVE YOU, Grandma. I know you can finally hear me now. Thank you for loving me and shaping who I am as a person.

Facebook Post by Lisa Arnette July 2, 2015 My beautiful mother passed away this afternoon very peacefully. Anyone who knew my Mom knew she was a strong and believed in God with all her heart. I know she is heaven with my dad and her friends and family that has passed and they are having a party and Mom is telling everyone what to do. That's my mama! — feeling blessed.

Facebook Post by Leslie Arnette July 3 at 12:32 pm I found a letter my grandmother wrote to me on my wedding day, wishing us a happy marriage and describing her marriage and when she found God. As I hiked to the cross overlooking Ventura yesterday morning, I thought about the beautiful family she and her late husband Dempsey had started right here, and I thought about children that will become. She died yesterday afternoon, and so I went back to the cross at sunset to say good-bye. Here are some quotes and scripture from her letter: "So many years have passed since then and look at all the families that started because of the two of us getting married." John 3-16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son that who so ever believed in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." She also wrote a poem called 'Creation' and these are the first and last lines: "Creation awakes and the sun is rising all over our land. God hung the Earth in the north place on nothing by his mighty hand. God created it all and provided for everyone by His hand. Earth, wind, oceans and sky, Fluffy the cat and Sam the dog are all part of His master plan." Even when I was a child, she never let me win at canasta! It would frustrate me so much. Only later did I realize she was teaching me a valuable lesson that even though you may get second chances in life, nothing comes easy. You just have to get better and wiser. She is home now, probably kicking God's butt at canasta right now. I'm happy that she is not in pain, and I will always remember her.
