Simi Valley Joseph P. Bondar It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Bondar of Simi Valley announces his passing on Friday October 21, 2011. Joseph Peter Bondar was born to Thomas and Irene (Semach) Bondar from Hungary, in NY City, NY on March 25, 1925. Joe attended St. Francis de Sales Elementary and Rice Memorial HS in Manhattan, NY. Joe served in the United States Navy (Air) in WWII and the Korean War. He graduated from Tri State University in Angola, Indiana with a BS in Engineering, and was a member of the Beta Sigma Tau Fraternity. He moved to California in 1956. Joe was a resident of Simi Valley for 50 years. He retired from the City of Los Angeles as a Civil Engineer (Public Works) after 30 years of service. He was an active parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Church, and then St. Peter Claver Church. He taught Religious Education then later enjoyed the calling to lead R.C.I.A. with his beloved wife and best friend Joan. He also enjoyed years of Marriage Encounter and Cursillo. He was a member in good standing of The Knights of Columbus and American Legion for over 20 years. Joe loved to camp with family and friends. He was an accomplished craftsman that loved to woodwork, carve, oil paint and make jewelry. Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife Joan Bondar, son Ed Stanley and sister Florence Bondar. Joe is survived by his daughters: Suzanne (Dan) Hargrove, Debbie (Carl) Asadurian, Julie (Mike) Miller, Debbie (Brad) Ford, Laureen Hufford, and Particia Yung, sons: John (Vicki) Bondar, and Michael Bondar, daughter-in-law: Diane Stanley, grandchildren: Trisha (Jose) Aguirre, Chad Asadurian and fiance Narine Hakobyan, Jason Asadurian, Nicholas Giuliani, Lauren and Megan Miller, Troy and Tylor Bondar, Casey (Jodi) Ford, Travis Ford, Colleen, Kaitlin and Kyle Hufford, Heather (Josh) Carter, Corey (Jacob) Ayon, great grandchildren: Tiana Aguirre, Tyler and Brandon Carter. He is also survived by his beloved sisters: Margaret Higgins, Bonnie Jensen, and Ilona Luther and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families. Joe will be most remembered for his unwavering faith, and love of God, and his capacity to love his entire family. A Vigil and Rosary is planned for Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 7:00pm at Rose Family Funeral Home, Simi Valley. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 10:00am at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, the corner of Cochran and Stow Streets, Simi Valley. Burial will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Simi Valley.
