Obituary of Jamshid Khonsari

Please share a memory of Jamshid to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jamshid Khonsari passed away peacefully on August 1, 2016 at the age of 72 in Simi Valley California surrounded by his children and sister after a year-long battle with lung cancer. Also known as “James”, or as he sometimes jokingly referred to himself as, “Jimmy Baby”, Jamshid often playfully teased friends and family with his mischievous and good-natured sense of humor. His sense of humor never left him; even in his last days he continued to make jokes from his bed. Born in Isfahan, Iran, Jamshid went on to receive his bachelor’s in Electronic Engineering and his master’s in Management Science while in the United States. In the meanwhile, he found time to win water polo championships, ride motorcycles, and even worked as a line cook to put himself through school. However, he would likely say that his greatest accomplishment was raising his two surviving children, Kaveh and Tara, whom he loved most dearly. Family was always very important to Jamshid and he remained especially close with his brother Feri and his sisters Shahla, Shahnaz, and Shahrzad. All who knew him would agree that Jamshid was a very trusting person who sought the good in others. It would give him great pleasure to have all his friends and family together in celebration of his life, happy and sharing fond memories. With those wishes in mind, his children have arranged a private service at the Sunset Hills Country Club in Thousand Oaks where he enjoyed many weekends with his family at the pool. The service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Jamshid’s honor to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America or any other charity committed to the improvement in survivorship of lung cancer patients.
