Jean Francis McFadden passed away Tuesday evening November 8, 2016. She was born May 14, 1922 in Pasadena, California to parents Oscar and Pauline Whetstine.
Jean attended school in Pasadena California, graduating from Marshall High School in 1940. She excelled in swimming in high school and enjoyed it as well as other outdoor activities over the years.
Jean married Thomas McFadden on September 14, 1940. They had 4 children: Michael, Donna, Judy and Paula. They raised their family in Temple City, Westchester and Canoga Park, California.
Jean worked for some years in the photo developing business and enjoyed photography as a hobby throughout her life.
Jean and Tom retired to the desert in 1978, living full time on their property in Mohave Valley, AZ until Tom's death in 2001. they loved living in the desert, caring for pets, gardening and a regular stream of relatives and other guests. They were golden years.
Jean moved to Minden, Nevada where she lived with daughter Judy until 2013. She spent her last years with daughter Paula in Simi Valley, California.
Jean was preceeded in death by her husband Thomas E. McFadden, parents Oscar and Pauline Whetstine Woodland, brother Donald J. Whetstine Sr., son Michael E. McFadden, and daughter Donna McFadden. She is survived by her daughters Judy A. Follosco and Paula J. Spencer. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 14 at 11:00 am at Desert Lawn Funeral Home, 9250 South Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, AZ 86440. (928) 768-5959.
