Obituary of Diane Lynn Bertell
Diane Lynn Bertell, 60, Port Hueneme, CA passed away on June 23rd, 2017 after her very courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.
Diane is survived by her husband, Michael Bertell; children Jenifer Adams and Dan Rasmussen; grandchildren, Donaven Rasmussen, Tyler Adams and Cally Benson; sister, Patti Vargo; brothers, Paul and Richard Edwards; nephew, Kenny Smith and nieces, Paula Smith and Madison Edwards.
Diane was born in Chicago, IL and traveled quite a bit throughout her childhood due to her father, Kenneth Edwards position at UFCW as the President. Diane quickly realized she wanted to work for the union as well. Diane started her dedicated career with Local 770 in January 1975 and retired October 2012. She was the Special Services Department Supervisor and retired as Kaiser Union Representative and top strategist with the Kaiser Coalition.
While working and living in California, she met and married Mark Rasmussen, Jenifer and Dan's father. After 13 years of marriage, they chose to divorce but still remained friends throughout her life. Diane moved her and her children to Simi Valley, CA to be closer to her sister Patti and then Diane then met the love of her life, Michael Bertell and married him in 1996.
After Diane retired, she decided to follow her dream and move to a condo on the beach in Port Hueneme, the place she cherished to the date of her passing. Diane loved to sit on her patio or in her room with the door open and listen to the ocean waves. It was one of her favorite things to do even on her worst days while fighting pancreatic cancer so fiercely for fifteen months. She was one of the strongest, passionate, tough but caring and dedicated women her family and friends have ever known and will be missed terribly.
Her family will be having a Celebration of Life for Diane after her private memorial, here at Rose Family Funeral Home, at:
Grand Vista Hotel
999 Enchanted Way
Simi Valley, CA 93065
Guests are welcome to attend anytime between 1-5pm that day and a blessing for Diane will be read at approximately 2pm. In lieu of flowers, her family would like to request that you donate in Diane's name to either, the Pancreatic Cancer Research Center or your local animal shelter.
