Obituary of Jeffrey Thomas Hill
Jeffrey Thomas Hill died on July 25, 2017, at his home in Moorpark, California. He had suffered for many years from lung disease as well as other complications. He is survived by his wife Lorraine and his two daughters, Jennifer Hill and Audrey Williams.
Jeff was born in Evanston, Illinois, on October 23, 1946, but moved to Ventura County in 1961, where he spent the remainder of his life.
He was a 1964 graduate of Simi High School and attended both Ventura and Moorpark Community Colleges. At one point, Jeff quit his college education and went to work as a mechanic at Simi Bowl in order to help support his mother and three younger siblings.
In 1969 he met his future wife, Lorraine Gagnon, and in 1971 they were married at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. They would remain soul mates and best friends for almost fifty years. He loved to tell people he had a “trophy wife.”
Once Jennifer and Audrey joined the family, the Hills purchased their first house in Moorpark. Long after the girls left home and went out on their way, Jeff and Lorraine have remained in that same home.
Over the years, Jeff loved golf, the guitar, bowling, camping with friends, and especially his family. Although he was a quiet man, he had a wonderful sense of humor, and he loved teasing his daughters whenever he got the chance. He was a humble and honest man.
Jeff worked most of his life as a machinist in the aerospace industry. He loved his work, but in 2003, his health forced him to retire on disability. The following years were very difficult for him.
A funeral service is being held at Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley on Monday. July 31st.
