Obituary of LeRoy Grob

Please share a memory of LeRoy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

LeRoy “Lee” Grob, 86, of Simi Valley, California, passed away on Wednesday October 18, 2017 at the Veteran’s Hospital in West Los Angeles, where he had been hospitalized for 3 weeks.

Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1276 Erringer Road in Simi Valley at 10 a.m on Wednesday, October 25, 2017.  Visitation will be from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. at the same location.  Bishop Mitch Voges will be officiating.  Rose Family Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Lee was born in Los Angeles at St. Vincent’s Hospital to Emil Grob and Dora Louise Gibson on August 17, 1931.  He was the oldest of 3 children.  He attended Glendale High School and graduated in 1950. He was a member of the National Guard, which was activated shortly after graduation.  At 19 years of age he was actively engaged in combat in Korea.  This experience deeply affected him his whole life.  Fortunately his testimony and membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helped him through many personal challenges.

He enjoyed traveling and did so with his wife until he was no longer able.  He contracted Guillain Barre in 2010 and even after many months of acute rehab he was no longer mobile and long trips were no longer possible.  He enjoyed his times at the family vacation home in Oakhurst, CA.

Lee is survived by Gail, his wife of 39 years, daughters Karen Ekman of Washington, Linda Gilman of Texas, adopted children Diana Jesperson of Utah and Edward Cole of Utah, and step children Benjamin Brown and Sabrina Brown,  16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandson, one niece and 6 nephews as well as his sister Claudia Vegas, of Washington.  His parents and brother Ronald predeceased him.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the medical aid, comfort and care given to Lee at the VA Hospital.
