Alicia Ann Gorman

Dear Family, I only learned of Alicia’s passing when my Christmas card was returned undeliverable this year. Alicia was my mother’s bible study leader. My mother was Joan Frenzer. Although I had heard about Alicia, I didn’t come to know her until my mother’s passing in 2012 as I live in San Diego. As my mother had no family living in town, she only designated two women to visit her in the hospital when I wasn’t there and one was Alicia. She became a lifeline for me as she took all of my calls and gave me sometimes daily reports on how my mother was doing, In my mother’s last week of life, Alicia was at the hospital every other day. It was very challenging to visit as you had to don gloves, mask and gown as my mother had contracted MRSA in the hospital. Alicia never complained and never let on what a burden this might have been for her. She also gave me weekly updates on how the Panthers were doing in their quest for their second CIF baseball championship. I am a member of the first graduating class at NPHS and saw our Panthers win their first CIF championship so it was very sweet to follow their progress. It was a blessed relief from the sorrow and anxiety that I felt during that time. We continued to exchange news at Christmas time and I knew she was very consumed with taking care of her husband (as I am with my disabled husband). It was another connection between us. She was such a lovely human being and the world seems less without her presence. I will always hold her in my heart for the wonderful support she was to both me and my mother.

So sorry to hear of your family’s loss. I remember her well at softball games when it was still Bobby Sox. She did a lot for the league. I especially remember her smile and her pink lipstick she always had on, and not to forget her tan! You all will be in my prayers, especially Mr. Gorman. I know how difficult it was for my dad to lose the love of his life. God is good and will help get you all through this.
